The learning process for a mobile app start-up requires one to listen to a lot of advice from a lot of people. One common recommendation we receive is that we need to keep customers engaged. We need to keep them coming back to our website or keep engaging with our mobile app. You don’t want to become the forgotten app. For interest, take a scroll through your own phone and see how many apps you have already forgotten about.
Best way to be an unforgettable app
It’s easy … just create an addictive user experience that keeps people coming back and opening up the app. Facebook does this really well and some game apps such as Candy Crush are experts at this.
Another way to get noticed and not forgotten is by continually sharing interesting blogs and articles.
How does all this advice relate to Windshieldink?
It doesn’t. Windshieldink is a communication app using licence plates as the contact point. It’s a utility app. It’s not addictive or exciting, nor is it an app that one would use every day. It’s not a game app either (although people have mentioned to us that we should build a game into the app). We’re pondering the idea.
Windshieldink … set it and forget it
So going against the grain, we suggest that if you are inundated with apps on your phone, you simply view Windshieldink as a “set it and forget it” app. In less than five minutes, you can install the app, create your free account, register your vehicle license plates, and you are done. That’s it! No need to touch the app again unless you, yourself need to contact a vehicle owner. Messages sent to you are sent via your email or phone text, not just solely through the app.
Once you’re set up, if there’s an issue with your own vehicle, any person with our app can now contact you through your license plate. They won’t know your name, your email address nor your phone number.
Windshieldink works like an insurance policy. You purchase insurance, you don’t think about it every day and you don’t want to use it but it’s always there if you need it. The same applies to the Windshieldink app. Its free and, once it’s set up, it’s always in the background if someone needs to contact you about your vehicle.
The fact that you didn’t make a claim on your insurance policy this year doesn’t mean you cancel it next year. Not making an insurance claim is a good thing! Never receiving a Windshieldink message via your license plate can be viewed as a good thing too. However, it sure can come in handy sometime!
Set it, forget it; but you ought to remember it
Windshieldink is there if the thought “I need to get a hold of that car owner” occurs to you. Use it to send a message to that car owner.
Not addictive but still very useful and informative
Given that Windshieldink is a utility app, user obsession isn’t an option for us. So we’ve adopted some of the advice given to us. We create and share articles, blogs, information and interesting photos. We strive to provide our community with useful content related to vehicle ownership, driving safety, and driving technology. From time to time we also like to share insights about the growth and evolution of Windshieldink. Everyone has their own preference as to what they find interesting. We hope the variety we deliver provides something for everyone.
