To further assist with driver convenience on the road, we’ve expanded our Windshieldink license plate messaging platform with our new online service called Connects.
Connects provides your business with the ability to receive roadside messages simply using a mnemonic keyword. We term it a “Connects ID”. This service is another building block in Windshieldink’s goal to improve driving experiences for all vehicle owners.
How do Connects and the Windshieldink app work in unison?
Windshieldink is a free mobile vehicle messaging platform launched in late 2016 as a personal vehicle security enhancement. It allows anyone to make themselves reachable via their license plate number should an issue arise with their vehicle. An example is if your car is going to be towed or your car alarm is going off. While the mobile app is designed for license plate messaging, the integration of Windshieldink Connects enhances your business’s service capability.
How it all works
You’re a roadside assistance provider and with a Connects ID in Ontario with the word “TOW”. If your business operates in multiple provinces, you can set up a similar Connect ID “TOW” in each province. Any potential customers, even out-of- province visitors, can use our mobile app to send your business a service request simply using the word “TOW”. They don’t need to know your local phone number. If they are from out-of-town, they likely don’t even know that your company exists but they can get assistance by using the app and messaging “TOW”.
The customer’s email message to you can include their phone number and their location via a GPS map link. The details are communicated to the roadside assistance personnel who then make direct contact with the customer.

No affect on app functionality
With regard to our mobile app users, the addition of Connects to the user community will not result in any changes to the functionality of the app. When an ID is entered in the license plate input field, our verification step will confirm the company the Connects ID is registered with and display a brief instruction message from them.
