Windshieldink

A License Plate Messaging App

Behind the Windshield June 19, 2018

Why Your Fleet Operation Should Use Windshieldink Fleeter

Several months ago we announced the introduction of a new business service called Fleeter (read about it here).   Fleeter enables fleet operators to use our license plate messaging platform to receive public feedback on driver performance.  It allows any business to covertly assign an email address to a vehicle license plate.  We’ve essentially modernized the well known “How’s My Driving” concept and this is only step one of our goal of help improve road safety for everyone.

Get notified about your drivers

Fleet operators typically ask for public feedback on the safety of their drivers by displaying a 1-800 “How’s My Driving” phone number sticker on the vehicle.  Well, we’ve changed this standard process to a new modern process.

Using the free Windshieldink app, the public can send a message to the license plate of your fleet vehicle to report an incident with the driver.  The message will  identify the exact vehicle to your company. The message sender can also attach a GPS coordinate in their message if they want to identify the location of the incident.

Windshieldink replaces the phone call to a  1-800 number with mobile messaging.  It alleviates the public’s concerns with time-consuming phone calls, voice mail, call display, and the issue of identifying the correct vehicle.

Your operation can try it out for free

We offer a 14-day free trial subscription to Fleet operators.  Find out for yourself how simple it is to register, manage your fleet’s license plates using Windshieldink Fleeter (subscribe here) and receive messages about your drivers.

If  your business doesn’t have the time or staff available to manage an online license plate database, our team at Windshieldink can do it for you.  We’ve made it simple!

This is how it works

  1. Create your account and select the approximate number of plates you want to register.  It can be as few as 10 or as many as 10,000, it doesn’t matter.
  2. Download our Excel template (link here) and input the license plate number for each of your vehicles.
  3. Identify where the plate is registered (province or state).
  4. Assign an email address, such as a safety officer, to each plate you are registering.  The same or a different email address can be used for each individual plate.
  5. Email us your completed Excel file to (support@windshieldink.com) and that’s it.  We’ll take it from here!

As  your fleet size fluctuates, make the necessary adjustments and email us your updated Excel template.  We’ll refresh your online database for you.

And don’t forget … anyone with our app installed on their smartphone can add two of their own license plates to the platform for free.

We hope you enjoyed this article and that you’ll continue to look at measures to improve the future of road safety.  Read more about the importance of road safety in some of our previously written blogs.  We will continue to move forward and expand with even more great services.
